We were pleased to be able to brefreind and support the asylum seeking families who lived in Leominster between August 2023-January 2024 and have continued our friendship with them, offering hardship suport where needed and particularly when they have gained refugee status and needed help with finding furniture and other household essentials.

Asylum seekers are provided with a room to live in, food to eat and basic toileteries but are not provided with clothes or other essentials. When refugee status is granted, they become homeless and have to join a housing list alongside other homeless people. When they are offered somewhere to live, it is usually a completely emply flat, so support with basic essentials is much appreciated.
