We have been experiencing extremely busy times during the first quarter of this year. We hoped the cost of Living Crisis might be receding by this point, but this has not been reflected in the huge numbers of people we are seeing nor in the distressing experiences that people in difficulty are sharing with us.
By early May this year, we had already distributed more than 1000 food parcels to people in Leominster and its surrounds, of which over 500 were for children.
In January of this year, we had to move to much smaller premises while building work was being carried out at the Old Priory. We hoped this would be very short term, but are still unable to return and anticipate a long wait, so are considering alternatives. This has increased our costs as we are giving some food parcels via supermarket vouchers to reduce the number of food bags we transport across town. During February we tried offering only supermarket vouchers rahter than food bags but this proved prohibitively costly so we have returned to our food bagging system, despite the significant challenges of this. It has been hard and stressful work, managing in difficult circumstances, for our enormously patient and flexible volunteer team. We very much hope to find some stability soon.
We now shop for the majority of our food items, topping up with food donated to us. This means that we have become increasingly appreciative of the generosity of our regular givers, because this consistent monthly income allows us some security in which to plan and weather the storms of ever increasing food poverty.

Thanks to everyone who supports our work. Leominster Food Bank provides a lifeline to those struggling with the cost of living in our local community and without the generous support of so many people, this would not be possible.
