Leominster Community Larder - helping those in acute need

Community Larder Update

Requests for food from the Larder have steadily increased. Well over a thousand food parcels have been issued and demand is growing.  It is evident that there is a real need for this support; so thank you all for your support so far, and please do continue to donate to the scheme.

If you are co-ordinating a local collection and need to know where to bring the food please phone 01568 615223.

Only tinned and dry foods should be donated and these should be “in date”.

The main categories we collect are soups, tinned meat and fish, bulk carbohydrates such as pasta, rice and tinned potatoes, tinned vegetables, and puddings. We also supply tea, coffee and basic toiletries. Any of these will be welcomed.

We are indebted to the Community Centre for its support and the use of its facilities.

And thank you again for your help.

Paul Scott. Chairman. Churches Together in Leominster.

Leominster Community Larder

How food can be accessed.

The Larder has been established to provide emergency support for those who are in acute need for whatever reason.

To access food the client needs to obtain a voucher from one or other of the agencies who can supply these.

Currently these include Social Services, the Citizens Advice Bureaux, Shelter, such emergency housing agencies as New Dawn, and the clergy of the local churches.

A potential client should not be referred direct to the larder, but to one of the voucher issuing agencies.

Vouchers include directions for finding the Larder which is open from 11.00am until 12 noon on Tuesdays and Fridays.

The Leominster Community Larder is run by volunteers and is organised by Churches Together in Leominster.
